This research project, started as part of my MFA at Nottingham Trent University, aims to build understanding of the elements that support the practice of artists working in abstraction, driven by the desire to consider the interplay between artist and art object with that of the viewer.

The Abstracted 35 series has provided a unique opportunity to test the limits of abstraction, to see how much detail can be removed from an image and still create interest and conversations.

It took me a long time to discover my own creativity. That might seem like an odd thing for an artist to admit, but it's true — and I think it's the most important thing I can tell you about why I've spent this week launching two new offerings into the world.
