Making & Mark
Making & Mark is a single creative day for young people aged 10 to 15, exploring drawing, printing and mark-making across a range of surfaces and materials to find a personal visual language.
Real materials, a practising artist and educator, and space to experiment for a full day. Charcoal, ink, pastels and print-making techniques, in a relaxed, unhurried environment where the process matters more than the outcome.
The next Making & Mark day runs at Lady Bay Scout Hall on Tuesday 20th October.
What happens in Making & Mark?
One Creative Day
Tuesday 20 October, 12–5pm, Lady Bay Scout Hall.
A single five-hour day - no experience needed, just come and see where it takes you.
Finding a mark of your own
The day starts simply - marks made with black mediums only, no pressure to make something good. From there, materials from the world outside get folded in: rubbings, prints, textures collected and worked into the page. A second colour arrives only once a personal visual language starts to take shape.
A body of work, made in a day
By the end of the day, participants will have made a genuine body of work — something entirely their own to take home and keep building on.
Led by a practising artist and educator
Young Creator's Lab is led by Paul Liptrot, artist and creative educator. Paul has led on a variety of workshops and was the lead for the Midlands Maker Challenge at the Museum of Making in Derby, working with over 350 young people.
Paul loves working with young people to help them develop and brings genuine excitement about materials and process, and a belief that everyone has something worth making.
