Curious Objects

Curious Objects is a single creative day for young people aged 10 to 15 — a day of modelling, drawing and working with found materials, making small, intimate things that hold more than they let on.

Real materials, a practising artist and educator, and space to work at your own pace for a full day. A quieter, more considered day for young people who like to take their time and make something worth keeping.

The next Curious Objects day runs at Lady Bay Scout Hall on Friday 23rd October.

What happens in Curious Objects?

One Creative Day

Friday 23 October, 12–5pm, Lady Bay Scout Hall.

A single five-hour day — no experience needed, just curiosity.

Giving objects meaning

Modelling, drawing and working with found materials — exploring how a small object can carry character and presence through careful making and attention to detail. Quieter and slower than a typical activity day, built for makers who like to take their time.

Something worth keeping

The day builds toward small, intimate pieces — things made to be kept, not just made. Participants leave with objects that feel genuinely theirs.

Led by a practising artist and educator

Young Creator's Lab is led by Paul Liptrot, artist and creative educator. Paul has led on a variety of workshops and was the lead for the Midlands Maker Challenge at the Museum of Making in Derby, working with over 350 young people.

Paul loves working with young people to help them develop and brings genuine excitement about materials and process, and a belief that everyone has something worth making.
