Flow

Flow is a three-week creative course for young people aged 10 to 14. It's built on a simple idea — there's rarely just one right way to solve a problem, and trying, adjusting and discovering matters more than getting it right first time.

Small groups, a practising artist and educator, real materials, and space to think freely. A short course for young people who want to build confidence in creative problem-solving, without the longer commitment of the full nine-week programme.

The next Flow course runs at Lady Bay Scout Hall from 17th November.

What happens in Flow?

Three Creative Sessions

Tuesdays, 4.00–5.45pm at Lady Bay Scout Hall.
Starts 17 November 2026.

Each session has its own rhythm — fast, then slower, then something more substantial to finish.

Fast Starts, then slower thinking

The first two sessions move at different speeds. Session one is quick — five or six short challenges, no time to overthink, each asking for something made by the end. Session two slows right down — working within limits, developing ideas together, taking time to actually think. Both close the same way: open time, no brief, just space to notice what that feels like.

Bringing it together

The final session brings everything into one place — a real challenge, a short amount of time, and freedom in how to respond. Participants come up with ideas, try them out, adjust, and walk away holding something they made themselves: proof they can think their way through a genuine problem, in their own way.

Led by a practising artist and educator

Young Creator's Lab is led by Paul Liptrot, artist and creative educator. Paul has led on a variety of workshops and was the lead for the Midlands Maker Challenge at the Museum of Making in Derby, working with over 350 young people.

Paul loves working with young people to help them develop and brings genuine excitement about materials and process, and a belief that everyone has something worth making.
